This is turning out to be the LONGEST winter ever and Spring still seems out of sight. We have had ice storms and FREEZING temps well below zero that caused school to close for 2 days. That was interesting as it was before MLK day and resulted in a 5 day weekend.
The kids (and myself) have been suffering from cabin fever. It is very difficult to explain to a 4 year old that even though it is sunny, they can't go play out in the snow or their skin will freeze off in just a few minutes! Thankfully, those bitterly cold days are behind us for now. A fresh snowfall just fell yesterday. Another reminder that winter wants to make it's presence known.....
On a serious note, we had a little shake up here. Inauguration day, Jan 2o, was a big day, but not only because of the new president....... Brock decided to stir things up and have a seizure that afternoon!
He was napping that Tuesday afternoon and I heard him wake up and play with his toys in his bed. I was straightening up the kitchen a little before I got him, but Cora yelled "Brock threw up"!!!!! I simply thought Brock was just delayed in getting the stomach flu like the girls had the week earlier. However, when I found Brock he wasn't himself and had a glazed over look to his eyes. I cleaned up his bed and gave him a bath. The entire time, I new Brock was acting strange. Quickly, I knew there was something to support my suspicions. He began seizing! First just a few mouth twitches, then progressively worse. I laid him on the floor and ran to get the Diastat......I gave him that and had to laugh because Avery and Cora were so intriqued and wondered "why Brock was getting a shot in his bottom"????? For those of you not familiar.....Diastat is a rectal gel form of valium that is used for break through seizures. I was NOT giving Brock a shot in the bottom! :)
The seizure stopped after about 10 minutes total...... I ended up taking Brock to the pediatrician to see if he had any sickness that I was missing. He checked out fine.
The next day Brock had an appointment with his neurologist. We were instructed to increase his current seizure med Keppra and just keep an eye on the boy.
So far all is well. After he recovered from his Diastat "hangover" he was back to his old self. :)
Much time has passed since my last post......I have numerous excuses, but one big one is that my laptop is on it's last leg. It freezes up all the time and will randomly terminate programs and shut down. I've already had it to a computer doctor once. It is time for a replacement, but finding the time to shop for a new one is difficult, not to mention I don't want to invest the money either!
I was going to include just some random pictures of the kiddos. My camera hasn't been very active in this cold weather so there aren't many shots to choose from! :) However, due to the laptop acting up, I am not even able to upload my pics to the blog! Grrrrr. Maybe another time.
Hope this post finds all the ABC fans happy and healthy! :)

That has to be so scary for you. Trying to stay calm for the girls while helping our boy when he is in distress. I hope the increase in meds continue to work. That poor little guy!
NO PICTURES!!!!! I'm going to have to start a computer fund for you. I can't go very long without my picture fix!
(((Hugs))), kisses and a whole lot of love to ALL!!
P.S. Aren't you glad that I didn't mention our mid to high 70's weather ;-0
