Fun City Vacation Day

Summer is quickly passing and we thought it was time to squeeze in a vacation trip. Jason has been working all the time, but the opportunity presented itself to take a day and travel to a little water park in Burlington, IA.

Fun City proved to be fun for all. Avery and Cora were like 2 fish and didn't want to leave. Looks like we may have to return soon.

Brock enjoyed some splashing and soaking his tootsies in the water. It was very hot so by the afternoon he and I were content to sit inside and watch everyone. We thought for sure the triplets would be worn out after all the water excitement, but surprisingly they couldn't wind down! If only I had a fraction of their energy.......... "Apparently kids have so much energy because they drain all of mine!" :) That is a quote I find quite fitting.

This sign shows Avery and Cora are 46" up to the guy's cap---they are growing!

The water was chilly at first, but Brock enjoyed it.
Dad and his 'mini-me'

Brock is all about splashing!!

Water parks are exhausting---gotta catch a few rays and relax poolside.
Fun times!

Slidin' sisters
My favorite pic of the day. The kids anxiously awaited a huge bucket to fill with water, then it tipped over and flooded everyone.

Here is the flood!

Updates:
The girls had dental appointments earlier in the week. Cora, like Brock had no cavities. Avery on the other hand........had a mouthful of SIX! I was devastated. Her teeth are apparently more prone to decay and she will require 2 visits to get fillings and even a few crowns. :(
Brock has been doing better with his feet, but they are still strangely sensitive! He can be fine one minute, then cry out if something bumps him or if his legs cross. Additionally, we are still coping with seizures. He keeps having little breakthroughs 2-3 times a week. They had been very short until yesterday---Packing up for Fun City, Brock had one that lasted over a minute. He recovered quickly and we continued with our plans. I notified neurology and we finally stepped up to the full dose of Topamax as of last night. During this time of increasing the new med and backing off the old has been frustrating. Brock is not coming off the Valproic Acid very well. He is doing great behavior wise, so that is super, but each step down from the Valpro, he has more break through seizures. It is scary to think even a half of mL can make a difference!
Starting Monday, Avery and Cora will attend summer school again. They will have another 2 weeks of that. We still need to fit in a vision appointment and shop for school supplies before summer gets away from us. Time is flying so quickly and it appears I have the rest of the summer calendar virtually all filled up! Summer is over in my mind once Brock has to have his hip procedure.
Brock's hip surgery has been scheduled for August 3rd. He will be inpatient for 3 days and be in casts for 4 weeks. I am trying to get so many things accomplished before that date of the 3rd, as I know life will be much more difficult with Brock in casts again. I am told that he will have a Petrie cast which leaves his hip incisions open to care for, but his lower legs will be in casts with a bar in between. The doctor has gone away from spica casts (full torso style) to this Petrie cast. He claims his patients heal better and can have range of motion sooner. All casts are depressing, but I think this style should be a little easier to deal with by comparison. We will be provided with a different wheelchair and car seat to accommodate Brock's casts. I still want to know how I am going to pick up the boy to transfer! Ouch.
I dread another surgery and recovery, but Brock needs to be relieved of his hip pain. With positioning, I have been able to cut back on some pain medication. However, Brock once enjoyed crawling and rolling on the floor and he is unable to do that now. :( I'm optimistic that after this surgery and rehab he will be back to making progress with his gross motor skills.
Until next time............
