On track again

I just had to make a quick post. In previous posts, I had mentioned how Brock wasn't feeling the best and of course he hadn't been sleeping well. It only got worse. Brock was trying to tell me he was really not feeling well. I knew it, but always think there is nothing you can do with viral issues other than wait them out. The waiting was over!
What began as a simple cold or allergy flair-up, magnified. (Just as I predicted) One night was just constant screaming from Brock (and a little from me)! I was going on a few nights of sleep deprivation and I had had enough! It was a good thing Jason was out of town for a couple days/nights, because I was a BEAR! GRRRR. You don't want to be around me when I don't get sleep. (Right mom??) :) Of course, since the birth of the triplets I haven't ever had the sleep that I crave, but that is beside the point.
Thursday morning, I called the pediatrician's office exactly at 8am. I requested the first available appointment......which surprisingly was 9am! Sweet! Brock got right in and doc surmised that the boy had a sinus infection. Poor kid. We have removed his tonsils, adenoids, and placed ear tubes and the turkey still manages to get sick all the time. Moving on to some good news----Doc looked in Brock's ears to rule out clogged tube/ear infection and I again got up on my soap box, ranting about how Brock struggles with his left ear. She was very thorough with the otoscope and said she could see that the tube was clear and in place........Here we go again.....BUT! And I say BIG BUT! She noticed that the tube was slightly "tipped" and was rubbing on the canal and in fact his ear had some swelling! (She even let me peek into the scope---I really didn't know what I was looking at, but of course said "oh yeah".) Hip, Hip, Hooray!! We have some concrete evidence that Brock does indeed have something to warrant his chronic discomfort. She gave some steroid ear drops along with some Amoxicillin for the sinus infection....AND after only 3 doses, Brock shows MAJOR improvement.
Now, what to do about the ear tubes. I want the left one removed ASAP. I feel like I have been suggesting that to 2 ENTs and no one is in agreement with me. Well too bad. I am the mom, I know my boy and I want that T-tube out! So......I should probably call the ENT and make an appointment. : ) The local ENT in Galesburg would by far be more convenient than the 3hr drive to Iowa City, but Iowa City ENT is the Dr. that placed the tubes. I will have to discuss this and think it over some more.
Phew! Glad this week is OVER.
Avery and Cora are doing well. Before their birthday, I would warn them when they were whiny. I said "you know, there is no more whining when you turn 4!" It is funny when I hear them, I remind them of the new 4 yr old status. It has worked for a few times...... I really should have named some more "rules" of 4 yr olds'! Ha. As if this no whining concept will work much longer. : )
Hoping for good health and LOTS of restful sleep for all!
Happy October!
