Thanks to my friend recently moving in to town from a farm, we were able to adopt 2 yellow kittens. Avery selected hers and insisted she call it DAISY! No. We are not naming another cat that.....she has since agreed to keep the name it was given by the previous owners---"Sunshine."
Cora took to the lighter colored one, but changed its name from Snowy to "Butterscotch." The kittens currently reside in the garage and are still trying to convince our dog Peanut that they are not chew toys! LOL.
I also need to make a correction from my last blog entry regarding summer school----it doesn't begin until June 14th! I had kids dressed and super excited to attend a Monday morning of fun, BUT......found out I was just a week early. Oops! Avery and Cora were devastated, but each recovered quickly when I said they could go to Grandma's house instead. :) {THANKS MOM!}
Monday was Brock's ENT appointment. It turned out to be a futile trip. Brock's ear tubes "look perfect!" They are in place and the Dr. wouldn't hear of removing them. So.....that leads us back as to why Brock is cupping his ear and chronically moaning. Chalk it up to frustration/behavior issues I suppose. I still think there is something bothering his ear, but I am just mom. What do I know?!?!?!
Avery and Sunshine. This is only the first full day here with us so they are still a little skittish. They will warm up soon enough with all the attention they are going to get!

Brock did really well with the saw. In fact, he giggled and kept reaching for it! He loves things that vibrate and today was no different.
When the Dr. came to assess and remove the pins, Brock was a little less happy, but still did amazingly well. However, when they were setting him for the new casts....well, that was a different story entirely. He was TICKED! Brock screamed and cried the entire time.
I'm sure it was painful, but I have to think that he was quite aggravated by having just tasted some short lived freedom from the previous casts and didn't want any part of something else confining him again!!!

The easy part......
The easy part......
Crack-a-lackin'
Ta-Dah! Look at that straight foot! Surgery was a success.
Ewwwww---Pin removal with a twisting and pulling motion.
Can you see how LONG that pin is???!!!!???!!!
OK, so Cardinal Red won out on the color selection. The orange was not Illini orange, I almost opted for green, but saw it and it looked like mint green......
I like the red, but with the padding at the top they look as though they should be hanging from my fireplace mantle at Christmas. LOL
Brock and I are certainly going enjoy his new range of motion and freedom---with these, he is allowed to stand in his stander!!! The short casts will stay for another 3 weeks (and about 2 days due to scheduling). Friday, July 2nd is the big day.
Let the countdown begin! :)

So glad Brock did well with the cast and pin removal. Amazing how well the kids are. I hope that the shorter casts will not be as bad for him. Love the red :) Take care!
