And....They're OFF!

Today was the much anticipated appointment to get Brock's casts removed. WooHoo, right? Well......it was exciting, but frustrating at the same time.
Some of the stitches appear to have dissolved and there is just a scar. However, the inner portion of each foot has disgusting scabs and stitches still. During the cast removal, one foot was fully exposed and Brock moved --only to have it scrape the cast of the other foot. Part of the scab came off and the incision bled. :(
We were sent home with the back half of his casts and an Ace bandage wrapped around each foot for protection. Brock's feet are SUPER sensitive!!!!
This afternoon I thought it would be good for Brock to take a bath--a real one not involving Ziploc bags and tape!!! The bath started off great. A little too good perhaps because Brock became excited with splashing and then kicking. The kicking made him reel in pain, but he couldn't stop kicking the floor of the tub! He went into a rage, I was completely soaked, and all I could do was freak thinking he was going to get worked up into a seizure.
No seizure, and eventually he calmed.
He currently is sleeping on the floor with just Ace wraps over his feet/ankles. As soon as he heals more and his feet become less sensitive, he will be fitted for some new DAFOs (braces).
Aside from the discolored skin and nasty scabs and scars, his feet look pretty good. His right foot still turns inward a little, but I knew that from the day of surgery. Brock won't have perfect feet, but at least now braces will work to correct and support his ankles/feet.
My sweet little Avery was so excited this morning knowing that little brother bear was getting his casts removed. She said: "Mom, I can't wait for Brock to walk after his casts get off!" Awww. I told her we still need to work on his hips and our first goal is standing........ The girls always ask when Brock will "grow up and not be a baby." Its my fault for always explaining that Brock is like a baby in development, because of "owies in his brain".
We all just want the best for Brock.
