Let the Recovery Begin!

Another day, another surgery......
My fun-loving boy didn't know what he was getting into this morning when I woke him and readied for a drive to Peoria. Today was the big day for the hip surgery.
Those of you following Brock's saga, know that both hips were dislocated but the surgeon didn't know if he could safely do both in one surgery. There was fear of too much blood loss and also risk from a long period under anesthesia. I made my opinion VERY clear, at both the pre-op appointment and this morning before surgery, that I wanted both hips done if possible!
Brock did very well and the surgeon was able to repair both hips. I am so relieved that we won't have to go through this again anytime soon!!!!
Below you will see Brock before and after his lengthy surgery.....

Silly boy would not keep the hat on and thought it was quite the game to keep taking it off each time I placed it on his head. :)

Here is my tough little guy right after we were moved into the room after recovery. Flash-back from the blue casts from before, but I simply couldn't choose PINK or PURPLE!

Brock is getting treated better this time around. I have a great nurse and tech that are staying on top of things. For pain, he is rotating between Morphine, Fentnyl, Lortab, and I just had them add the Valium like before because he was having so many muscle spasms. (After receiving the valium, he immediately relaxed and is snoozing great right now.)
I am a little overwhelmed seeing the casts with bars, and the drains and incisions, but day by day.......
To cope, I have discovered a 'new' service offered by the hospital--Signature Service--it is almost like room service! I get to order off a menu for "free" (I'm sure it is factored into our bill somewhere). Soon I will be trying out a signature spinach salad with dried cranberries, candied pecans, and a cranberry vinagrette dressing, followed by a slice of TRIPLE CHOCOLATE LAYER CAKE!
Maybe I will just skip the salad and pig out on the cake???? :)
Thanks to each of you that have been thinking of and praying for my sweet little boy. Please continue, as we face a lengthy recovery period in the many days ahead.
