A night in the life of Brock......

All I can hope is that once Brock is rid of these casts, he will learn how to sleep once again. After his surgery, he was sleeping in blocks of time and waking for pain meds. Currently, he seems to have his days and nights completely confused. I think he is struggling so much because he feels well enough to move, yet is restricted by the casts and can't get comfortable. The past week or so have been unbearable at night. I have to get up with him all throughout the night! I knew I was getting up frequently and of course I was tired, but last night I decided to write down when I got up and what I had to do.

It was even worse than I thought......

Brock was put to bed at 8:30 p.m. He was fussy at first but soon settled down and fell asleep. I knew that I had to sleep when he was sleeping and eventually settled down myself around 9:30 p.m. The marathon night soon began....
  • 10:47 p.m. Brock woke crying and trying to flip himself over. I positioned him on his side.
  • 11:30 p.m. He woke again fussing. I placed him on his tummy.
  • 12:20 a.m. Awake and irritable---moved him to his back.
  • 1:00 a.m. Brock was so agitated, I gave him a dose of Valium.
  • 2:15 a.m. Crying and screaming out. I placed him in his stroller and walked laps around the kitchen island.
  • 2:22 a.m STILL CRYING! Gave a dose of Motrin and he eventually fell asleep.
  • 4:30 a.m. Brock let me know he was done sitting.....put him back in bed.
  • 5:15 a.m. Simple fussing resolved by just a pacifier, and he went into a restful sleep.
  • 6:15 a.m. I had to get up and get girls ready for school.....Brock slept peacefully until I had to wake him for his morning meds around 7:15 a.m.

Ugh! No wonder I can't function without my morning pot of coffee and constant caffeine throughout the day!

The best part of my day is that mom came to sit with Brock while I ran in town to get my hair cut. :) THANKS MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things other than my night life are going well. Avery and Cora love Kindergarten and adore each of their teachers. They have adjusted very well to being in separate classes so far. I hope the positive attitudes continue!

Until next time..............
