Home town "Field Trip"

It was a beautiful Thursday here so of course I thought of yard work to do! My favorite pastime..... The kids and I packed up and set out for my sister's house, aka HART'S NURSERY! Wow, quite the field trip. The place is set on about 10 acres, has numerous greenhouses, display gardens, ponds (I think there are 3 + a pondless waterfall), and even goats and chickens they privately raise. I feel like I just did a commercial for them, but the point was there was tons to see and do. My goal was to get mulch and some annuals for some flower pots. The funny thing is that I have never had great landscapes but my excuses have varied. When I was working at the nursery I was way too busy---kinda like the shoe cobbler that couldn't even take care of his own shoes....I started some projects while teaching, but soon the kids came along and forget any spare time! As the trio is getting older they are a little better about "helping" so we are attempting some more projects. However, I let them have a tad too much influence on my plant selections and for the first time I have lots of PINK and PURPLE ----thanks Avery and Cora! LOL. Of course if the girls get "their" color choices I feel the need to have Brock plants! He gets the bold reds, oranges and tropical shades. I also have good intentions of creating a small sensory garden for my little boy. Scented plants and those with lots of textures. His latest interest has been in water! We have been out to some of the garden centers and he will smile and giggle at the sound of the fountains......check out the pic of him in front of one of the waterfalls today! Think Jason will help me construct a pond? Ha. I have enough things on the 'to do' list to last a couple years I think. For now I will search for a smaller affordable water feature. : )

Avery and Cora were fond of the mommy and baby goat

Doesn't he NEED a pond of his very own? : )

Girl's with the purple Allium --fondly called "balls on sticks" at home

Strike a pose!

WOW! That nursery is GORGEOUS! I think your whole family deserves a waterfall and pond. ;-)

Don't forget to take plenty of pictures when everything is planted and in bloom. I'm looking forward to it.

(((Hugs))) and love to ALL!
